Christian Thiemann and Daniel Grady at Northwestern University have put together a truly awesome spatial visualization using data from WheresGeorge. Tracking the exchange of money turns out to be a really good way of defining actual or ad-hoc regions -which, turn out to look a lot like states! Anyways, I'll let them tell the story.
